The city of Battle Ground’s Parks and Community Engagement (PACE) Board wants to hear feedback from the community to decide the future of four parks at 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, at City Hall Council Chambers, 109 SW First St. The advisory board is currently reviewing alternate plans for four future parks on different properties to propose to the City Council.

The four properties under consideration are:

  • The Remy property, sized 80.2 acres, on Southwest Scotton Way.
  • The 13-acre Gardner Oaks property, east of the Walmart supercenter.
  • Fairgrounds Park on Main Street, which currently hosts five ballfields and a skate park, estimated to be 8.6 acres.
  • The Durkee property, almost one mile east of city limits. The property was granted to the city by the County to be turned into a park in 2012 and spans 35 acres.

After the open house, at 6 p.m., the PACE board will hold a joint meeting with the city’s Planning Commission to develop the preferred alternatives for the four park properties. The Battle Ground City Council will review the plans in a future meeting, where they will either be approved or altered before a master plan is finalized.
