ETTA NASH
Etta Ida (Ritchey) Nash, 88, died May 28, 2008, in Vancouver.
Nash was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada, moved from Canada to California in 1961, became an American citizen, and then moved to Vancouver about 1991. She lived in the Pythian Home for 12 years, Arbor Ridge Assisted Living, and then with her daughter in Yacolt the last two years.
Nash enjoyed painting, writing, crocheting, reading, and watching birds and squirrels from her rocking chair on the porch. She loved nature.
Nash worked as a bookkeeper for 25 years for
General Tire and Rubber Company.
Nash was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Nash, in 1974, and granddaughter Kelly Suzanne Tindall in 1990. Survivors include daughter Ronnie Tindall Ellis of Yacolt, two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Davies Cremation &
Burial Services was in charge of arrangements. Her ashes will be placed in her favorite garden spot.

NICHOLAS NATALE JR.
Nicholas “Nick” Natale Jr., 64, died March 26, 2008, at home in Ridgefield, after a battle with cancer.
Natale was born Dec. 17, 1943, in New Haven, CT. He joined the U.S. Air Force at age 18 and served 22 years. He earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s in business administration from the University of Southern Illinois.
Following tours of duty in the Philippines, England and other locations, he retired from the Air Force at the rank of Captain. He remarried in 1985 and moved to Ridgefield in 1986. He worked as an account manager with EDS in Portland, and then as a financial advisor with WestStar Financial Group. He enjoyed baseball, cooking, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include widow Jan Strandberg Natale, at home, son Peter Natale of Minnesota, daughters Kimberley Natale of California and Nicole McNamara of Seattle, mother-in-law May Strandberg of Battle Ground, sister Sara Erba of Connecticut, brother Robert Sicignano of Connecticut, sister-in-law Helen, three cousins, and grandchildren on the way.
A committal ceremony will be held Thurs., April 3, 11 a.m., at Crawford Cemetery, 20011 NE Allworth Rd., Battle Ground, followed at 1 p.m. by a celebration of his life at Charter Oak Community Church, 12212 NE 299th St., Battle Ground.
Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, is in charge of arrangements.

MARY NAUMAN
Mary Jane (Stevens) Nauman, 87, died June 13, 2007, in Vancouver.
Nauman was born March 9, 1920, in Hutchinson, KS, and lived in Battle Ground for 54 years. She had milked cows, raised chickens, drove a tractor and done field work. She also worked in the electrical department at the shipyards during World War II. She attended Vancouver Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed banking, decorating cakes, making dolls, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and ceramics.
Survivors include widower Paul Nauman, at home, daughter Roberta DeFord of Vancouver, sons Jerry Nauman of Battle Ground, Ronald Nauman of Monroe and Bill Nauman of Vancouver, 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tues., June 19, 10 a.m., at Vancouver Wesleyan Church, 5621 NE 78th St., Vancouver, with burial at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Vancouver. Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, is in charge of arrangements.

DELBERT NELSEN
Delbert Donivan Nelsen, 86, died March 23, 2007, at home in Amboy.
Nelsen was born June 29, 1920, in Maxwell, Nebraska, and lived in Clark County for 46 years, the last 26 years in Amboy.
Nelsen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a private pilot and a member of the Kelso/Longview Elks Lodge and American Legion. He enjoyed salmon fishing, boating, riding motorcycles, motor home travel, shooting pool and visiting with friends at Nick’s and the Red Fir. He loved his dogs, Pedro, Corky and Lilly.
Nelsen worked as a green chain foreman in plywood manufacturing.
Survivors include widow Dorothy “Dot” Nelsen, at home, son Ron Nelsen of Longview, daughter Debbie Monahan of Battle Ground, sister Betty Cox of Castle Rock, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Fri., March 30, 2 p.m., at Lewisville Cemetery, Battle Ground, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.

JENNIE NELSON
Jennie Rozella (McCord) Nelson, 96, died Dec. 3, 2006, in Vancouver.
Nelson was born May 17, 1910, in Minong, WI, and lived in Clark County for 45 years, the past seven years in Battle Ground. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening and doing crossword puzzles.
Nelson was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Siebrecht in 1966, second husband Nowell Nelson in 1974, and daughter Lynda Lynch in 1969. Survivors include daughters Irene Dobson and Leona Hall, both of Battle Ground, son David Siebrecht of Battle Ground, sister Naomi Patterson of Oregon, 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Private interment was at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.

SUSAN NELSON
Susan Marie (Merriman) Nelson, 51, died Jan. 12, 2007, in Vancouver.
Nelson was born Nov. 26, 1955, in Port Angeles, and lived in Clark County for 45 years, the past year in Battle Ground.
Nelson was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, spending time with her grandchidlren, and going to the beach.
Survivors include daughters Erica Nylund, LynDee Nelson and Carrie Nylund, all of Battle Ground, sons B.J. Nelson of Washougal and David Nelson of Battle Ground, brothers John Merriman of Brush Prairie and Mark Merriman of Battle Ground, sisters Debby Stewart and Pam Triggs, both of Battle Ground, and Candice McIntosh of Longview, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thurs., Jan. 18, 1 p.m., at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16603 NE 142nd Ave., Brush Prairie, with viewing Wed., Jan. 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the church. Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, is in charge of arrangements.

RAYMOND NERTON
Raymond Eugene Nerton, 71, died May 10, 2007, in Vancouver.
Nerton was born March 27, 1936, in Vancouver, and lived in Clark County his entire life, including 35 years in Brush Prairie before moving to Vancouver a month ago.
Nerton graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1954. He was a member of Mt. View Christian Center and a devout Christian. He enjoyed old television shows, and tinkering.
Nerton worked as a scale man for the state highway department.
Nerton was preceded in death by daughter, Julie Dobson, in February 2007. Survivors include sons Thomas Nerton and Joseph Nerton, both of Battle Ground, and Andrew Nerton of Vancouver, brother Melvin Nerton of Battle Ground, sisters Judy Calderwood of Vancouver and Virginia Nerton of Toutle, and three grandchildren.
No services are planned, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.

TAMI NEWTON
Tami Celia (Prew) Newton, 50, died Jan. 22, 2008, in Vancouver
Newton was born Dec. 24, 1957, in Vancouver, and lived in Vancouver most of her life. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1976.
Newton worked in the restaurant industry and loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She enjoyed painting, and arts and crafts projects. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing, being outside, tending the farm, working with animals and gardening.
Newton was preceded in death by her father, Richard Prew, in 2003. Survivors include widower Jerry Newton, at home in Vancouver, daughter Holly Newton of Vancouver, mother Celia Prew of Vancouver, brother Tom Prew of Vancouver, niece Jessica Prew, nephew Tommy Prew.
A celebration of life memorial service is set for Sat., Feb. 2, 10 a.m., at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, with Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

FRED NICKELSON
Fred Sankey Nickelson, 88, died April 11, 2007, in Vancouver.
Nickelson was born Feb. 19, 1919, near Coldwater, Kansas. He started high school in Coldwater. The family moved to Oregon in 1937. Nickelson finished high school at St. Helens, OR. He served as a radio operator in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Nickelson moved to Hazel Dell in 1948. He lived in Battle Ground for about 18 years, and then moved back to Vancouver.
Nickelson worked for Bemis Bag for 43 years, and also as an electrician. He worked in electronics and television repair. He was known as Mr. Fix It and could fix anything. He maintained a collection of parts at his home. If his children or anyone needed a tool or parts, Nickelson was ready to supply it.
Nickelson missed the watermelons and other melons that his family had raised in Kansas. He tried to grow watermelons at his Orchards home but was not satisfied with them.
Nickelson was preceded in death by an infant son who died at birth in 1942, and by brother Orville Nickelson and sister Anna Mae Hausley. Survivors include widow Mary (Steudler) Nickelson of Vancouver, brothers Chris Nickelson and Ralph Nickelson, both of Oregon, sister Gatha Nickelson of Ohio, daughters Janet Mahoric and Anna Nelson, both of Battle Ground, sons Glen Nickelson, Fred Nickelson, Wayne Nickelson and Marvin Nickelson, all of Vancouver, 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Wed., April 18, 5-9 p.m., and Thurs., April 19, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver. Graveside services will be held Thurs., April 19, 2 p.m., at Memory Memorial Park Cemetery, 6906 NE 144th St., Vancouver. A memorial service will be held April 19, 3 p.m., at Manor Evangelical Church, 17913 NE 72nd Ave., Vancouver, with Evergreen Memorial Gardens in charge of arrangements.

ROBERT NOBILE
Robert G. Nobile, 82, died Feb. 5, 2007, in Clackamas, OR.
Nobile was born March 2, 1924, in Brooklyn, NY, and lived in Brush Prairie for 26 years.
Nobile worked for the U.S. Department of Defense. He served in the Army with the 11th Airborne Division in the Philippines. He attended Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver. He was a handyman and enjoyed woodworking, reading, swimming and stamp collecting. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include widow Stasia Nobile, at home in Brush Prairie, sons Lawrence Nobile of Colorado and Alan Nobile of Brush Prairie, daughter Judy Nobile of Vancouver, sister Mary Mendolia of Arizona, and six grandchildren.
Interment was at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.

IRMA NOBLE
Irma Elizabeth (Morrell) Noble, 80. died Nov. 2, 2006, in Vancouver.
Noble was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Poissac, NJ, and lived in Yacolt for 20 years.
Noble attended Yacolt Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed life, making trips to Spirit Mountain Casino, and raising German Shepherds. She had been employed as a production worker in pharmaceuticals.
Survivors include sons Robert Morrell of Florida and Herbert Noble III of Yacolt, sister Roberta of Florida, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

HAROLD NORDBERG
Harold Arthur Nordberg Jr., 66, died Feb. 21, 2007, in Clackamas, OR.
Nordberg was born July 14, 1040, in Brockton, Massachusetts, and lived in Clark County for 38 years, the last 35 years in Brush Prairie.
Nordberg served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of the Retired Navy Submariners. He liked farming, painting in watercolors, fishing, walking and working on cars. He enjoyed his German shepherd dog, Rose.
Nordberg worked many jobs, including at a chemical company. He also worked as a maintenance man, an auto mechanic, and mixing paint at Fred Meyer in Orchards.
Nordberg was preceded in death by son, Harold Arthur Nordberg III in 1974, and grandchild, Monroe. Survivors include widow Kathleen Nordberg, at home, daughters Kristin Nordberg and Alexandra Nordberg, both of Brush Prairie, Mary Nordberg of Vancouver and Callaghan Landram of Pasco, sisters Sally Davis of Massachusetts and Joellen Nordberg, and seven grandchildren.
Interment was at Elim Cemetery, Brush Prairie, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.
