School districts in the North Clark County area will soon start the process of kindergarten registration for the 2013-2014 school year. Some districts have already begun their registration and others will start in the following weeks.
Here is a list of North Clark County school districts and their kindergarten registration information:
Battle Ground
Battle Ground School District parents and guardians of children who will be 5 before Sept. 1 are encouraged to register them for 2013-2014 kindergarten during the week of April 15-19, between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the main office of the primary school that the child will be attending.
If parents or guardians aren’t sure which school their child should attend, they should call the school district boundary office at (360) 885-6577.
Parents will need to bring a birth certificate to verify that their child will be 5 before Sept. 1. Some immunization information is also required, including:
• Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis – 4-5 doses DTaP, last dose must be given on or after fourth birthday
• Polio – 3-4 doses, last dose must be given on or after fourth birthday
• MMR – 2 doses, first dose on or after first birthday; second dose 28 days or more after first dose
• HEP-B – 3 doses, must follow spacing requirements, check with health care provider
• Varicella (Chickenpox) – 2 doses, first dose on or after first birthday; second dose 28 days or more after first dose; or health care provider verification of disease
Hockinson The Hockinson School District started their kindergarten registration March 25. To be registered, the child must be 5 years old prior to Sept. 1 and parents and/or guardians must provide the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of in-district residency.
A kindergarten roundup will be held Thurs., May 9, 9:30 a.m., at the Hockinson Heights Primary gym, 20000 NE 164th St., Brush Prairie. This is a parent-informational meeting and it is recommended that children do not attend. Call the district at (360) 448-6420 for more information.
Ridgefield open enrollment
The Ridgefield School District has opened their 2013-14 kindergarten enrollment for new students.
District staff will accept enrollment applications at both South Ridge and Union Ridge Elementary Schools, starting Mon., April 8. Parents are required to bring a valid copy of the child’s birth certificate showing they will be five years of age before Sept. 1, as well as vaccination documentation for diptheria. tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), hepatitis B and chicken pox (varicella).
Immunizations must meet age and spacing requirements and forms must be complete prior to class placement.
Union Ridge Elementary School’s office hours are 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. A Parent Info Night will be held on Tues., May 14 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
South Ridge Elementary School’s office hours are 8:45 a.m.-4 p.m. Staff will host a Parent Info Night on Thurs., May 16, from 6-7 p.m.
Kindergarten assessment testing will be scheduled for the week of June 17, but no exact dates or times have been announced.

La Center registration
Kindergarten registration at La Center Elementary will be April 15-30. Children must turn 5 on or before Aug. 31 to enter kindergarten for the 2013-14 school year.
Parents must register at the elementary office between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and must bring their child’s immunization record and a copy of their birth certificate.
Parent orientation will be Thurs., May 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the K-8 cafeteria. The La Center School District strives to assess all incoming kindergarten students before placement.
Two evening events have been scheduled with the incoming Bobcat Cubs and their parents, April 25 and May 23, both from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided for siblings. Kindergarten teachers will join in for the evening to support and get acquainted with the future students. For more information, call (360) 263-2134 to RSVP.
