Parks Foundation receives $10,000 Community Foundation Grant Award

The Parks Foundation of Clark County recently announced the receipt of a $10,000 grant award received through the Jane Onsdorff Malmquist Charitable Fund held by the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington.

The grant will provide new playground in three Battle Ground City parks and help fund the 2014-2015 Friday Teen Late Night Program at Marshall and Firstenburg Community Centers.

“This donation will significantly enhance the play experience at three of our local parks” said Debbi Hanson, director of Battle Ground Parks and Recreation.  “The funds will replace select pieces of playground equipment including new climbing nets at Florence Robison and Cresap Parks and a tire swing at Kiwanis Park that were removed due to vandalism.  Additionally, the funds will pay for a new teeter totter at Kiwanis Park which is the City’s most popular park.

Julie Hannon, director of Vancouver Parks and Recreation said of the award, “The Teen Late Night program is a very popular and important program that offers a great spots for teens to socialize, hang-out and take part in positive activities. This program provides a valuable community service for teens and their families who are looking for a safe and fun place to spend their Friday nights. We are very grateful for the support we receive from our generous sponsors which enables us to keep this program running.”



Cheri Martin, Executive Director of the Parks Foundation, commented, “the Parks Foundation is currently seeking additional financial and sponsorship support required to ensure the Teen Late Night Program is fully funded during the 2014-2015 school year. The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Vancouver and Clark County was established in 1999 to accept and administer donations, gifts and bequests for the enrichment and enhancement of our communities’ parks, trails, and recreational programs.

The mission of the Parks Foundation is to raise funds through public and private partnerships for parks, trails, and recreational programs throughout Clark County. The Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation and all gifts are tax deductible. The Foundation is governed by a board of directors comprised of local citizens who oversee, invest and administer donations made to the Foundation.
