Fire District 3 firefighters extinguish flames after a crash.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded Clark County Fire District 3 a $408,560 Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The grant will enable Fire District 3 to replace self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Fire District 3 requested the assistance to replace obsolete SCBA equipment with new, safe, interoperable equipment that meets the current minimum requirements of Washington Administrative Code 296.305 and the National Fire Protection Association.
Fire District 3 will replace the entire inventory of SCBA equipment with new equipment to be better equipped to adequately protect the community and ensure firefighter safety in hazardous atmospheres.
