VANCOUVER - A Ridgefield woman suffered injuries in a highway collision in Vancouver early Saturday evening, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.

Emergency responders rushed Trista D. Rust, 25, of Ridgefield, to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with unknown injuries just before 7 p.m. Saturday following the wreck on I-5 near the Main Street overpass in Vancouver.

Rust had been driving a yellow 2002 Ford Ranger in the far right northbound lane when authorities said she attempted an unsafe lane change and collided with a 2004 Subaru Impreza driven by Larry D. Smith, 22, of Deer Park, WA.

The impact caused Rust's truck to rotate counterclockwise where it shot across the left lane and struck a concrete barrier. She was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, authorities said.

Smith was not injured in the crash.

Authorities cited Rust for an improper lane change and failure to wear a safety belt.
