The Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Pageant will once again be held in La Center’s Sternwheeler Park Amphitheater.

This year marks the 12th year for the nonprofit pageant, which provides ambassadors for the City of La Center for parades and festivals all around the Southwest Washington and Portland Metropolitan area.

This year’s event will be held on Sat., July 26, at 7 p.m.

Event organizer Linda Tracy said the 2013 Miss Teen La Center Court, including Queen Hailey Jones, was very involved in area events over the past year including participating in parades in La Center, Fort Vancouver Veteran’s Parade, Hazel Dell Parade of Bands, Portland Rose Festival Starlight Parade and also those in Woodland and Ridgefield.

The court included Kimmy Carter, Madison Johnson, Kyrie Klinski and Amethyst Ackerman. The court also helped Santa during the La Center Tree Lighting and raised funds for the Banfield Pet Hospital’s “feed a hungry pet” program at the Zoo Lights Festival.

“Queen Hailey provided her beautiful singing voice to entertain at the Clark County Fair, she also was a judge for the more than 250 babies at the fair last year,’’ Tracy said in a press release.

The current court, as well as prior members, were called to help in the Clark County Dairy Women’s booth. The girls also attended the Clark County Fair Court Coronation and washed Clark PUD trucks.

The winner of this year’s event will receive a $1,000 award and other prizes will be awarded as well. Admission to the event is $3. Children 6-and-under are admitted free. All proceeds from the event go to future Miss Teen La Center Pageants. The event is co-sponsored by the New Phoenix, Last Frontier and Palace casinos as well as the City of La Center, La Center Marketplace and Bucky’s Pizza and Burgers.
