Lawmakers from Washington’s 18th District have secured over $5.6 million in funding for local projects as part of the proposed 2025-27 capital budget. The $7.63 billion budget, outlined in House Bill 1216, will prioritize school construction, public safety, infrastructure, housing and economic development.
Rep. Stephanie McClintock and Rep. John Ley, both R-Vancouver, worked to include funding for key projects benefiting the region, a news release by Washington State House Republicans stated.
“These are your tax dollars that we’re working hard to bring back to the district,” Ley said in the news release. “These projects reflect input from local agencies and the community.”
Local funding highlights include:
• $515,000 for downtown revitalization in Battle Ground
• $278,000 for culinary upgrades in Battle Ground Public Schools
• $383,000 for stormwater mitigation at Tukes Work Center
• $318,000 each for fish passage restoration at Gee Creek and East Fork Lewis River
• $803,000 for wildlife recreation at Battle Ground Lake Equestrian Parking Lot
• $3 million for upgrades to the Washington State University-Vancouver Central Chiller Plant
Additionally, McClintock and Ley helped secure $5 million for regional public safety projects, including a new criminal justice Southwest Regional Training Facility in the 20th District and a public safety complex in the 49th District.
“This budget is a great example of bipartisan collaboration,” McClintock said in the release. “We will continue advocating to keep these projects in the final budget.”
The 2025 legislative session is set to conclude on April 27.
