Area teams fare well in league cross country meets at Lewisville Park

The Battle Ground, Prairie and Ridgefield boys and the Hockinson and Prairie girls cross country teams all claimed titles at Lewisville Park last week, wrapping up their regular seasons with strong finishes.

Now the teams are preparing for the District IV 1A/2A championships at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 at the Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland.
Ridgefield’s Danica Allen took first place in the girls 5,000-meter race in the 2A GSHL league meet, while the Hockinson girls team won the team points standings. The Ridgefield boys team took home the team score title in the boys 5,000-meter race.



On Oct. 23, boys runners for Prairie and Battle Ground High Schools filled the top-10 leaderboard in their respective district championships.

The Prairie boys team finished with five top-10 finishers in the 3A GSHL District Championship to earn the district title en route to qualifying for the Westside Classic, a cross country regional race, on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Prairie girls team also brought home the district title as they qualified for the Westside Classic as a team, as well.

The Battle Ground boys team finished with five in the top-10 during the 4A GSHL District Championship to earn the district title and qualify as a team for the Westside Classic. Five Tiger girls runners individually qualified for the Westside Classic, as well.
