The Battle Ground baseball team dropped three games on the road last week at Camas.

The original schedule included two home games and one away game for the Tigers, but due to weather and field conditions at Battle Ground, all three games were moved to Camas High School.

In game one on Tuesday, April 11, Battle Ground’s Ty Linster had a strong performance on the mound during the Tiger’s 2-0 loss.

Linster threw for all six innings allowing just three hits and two earned runs with eight strikeouts and two walks. Linster was able to quiet the Papermakers’ bats for the majority of the game.

“Ty did a great job,” Battle Ground Head Coach Billy Hayes said. “He battled out there. We got to do better for him because he keeps us in the game with how he pitched.”

Battle Ground did have some early chances to score, but the team was not able to take advantage of runners in scoring position. The Tigers had four total hits during the game and one error.

In game two on Wednesday, April 12, Camas held the Tigers scoreless until the seventh inning, where Battle Ground secured all four of its runs in the 7-4 loss.

In the final inning, Cole Carsten, Ethan Adams, Jack Hotchkiss and Kevin Ferguson all drove in runs for the Tigers. Carsten led the Tigers with two hits.

During game three on Thursday, April 13, Ferguston hit a home run on a fly ball over left field giving Battle Ground an early 2-1 lead in the first inning during its 4-3 loss.

The Papermakers secured all of their runs in the fifth inning, while the Tigers scored their final run with a line drive to centerfield by Hotchkiss that scored Trevin Long.

Long led the team with two hits. On the mound for Battle Ground, Noah Newton gave up four hits and three runs with two walks.

Ferguson took to the mound for five innings allowing three hits, one earned run, two strikeouts and one walk.

The Tigers fell to 3-8 on the season. They were scheduled to play Skyview during three games this week on Monday, April 18, Tuesday, April 19 and Friday, April 21.
