The Battle Ground girls golf team lost to the Mountain View Thunder as weather conditions impacted the match to add extra challenges on Tuesday, March 28, at Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Ridgefield.

The Tigers racked up 33 points to Mountain View’s 77 points on Tri-Mountain’s front nine under the Stableford scoring system.

Battle Ground senior Brooke Allen scored a team-high 12 points for the Tigers as senior Taytm Hauge scored 10. Sophomore Ava Robertson hit the driver well throughout her round and was able to add nine points to the team’s total.

Other golfers who scored for the Tigers included second-year golfer Chase Robertson, and first-year golfers Delaynee Hibbs and Ellyott Porter.

“We started off really well. We won our first two matches, which is one more than we won last season,” Coach Deena Robertson said. “They’re working really hard and they get better everyday.”

Hauge has been with the team for four years and has committed to play golf at Centralia College next year.

The highlight of the match came from Allen who secured an about 25-yard chip shot with a tricky pin location on the par four fifth hole. She hit a bump-and-run style chip that rolled with the slope and then made a seven foot putt where the ball completed a 360-degree loop around the cup before going in.

During the meet, a storm with high winds and rain impacted the first three holes of the match.  Once golfers made it to hole five, the wind gave way to rain, causing puddles to appear in spots around the green by hole nine.

The Tigers next match is scheduled for April 13 against Prairie High School at Tri-Mountain Golf Course.
