Battle Ground Police Department honors personnel of the year

The Battle Ground Police Department recognized outstanding service and professionalism at its 2024 Employee Awards Ceremony, held April 30. Officers and staff were honored for life-saving actions, exemplary performance and long-term service.

Detective Ethan Poki was named Officer of the Year for his leadership and dedication during a period of departmental transition. In addition to mentoring new detectives, Poki adjusted his schedule to support patrol units facing staffing shortages, a news release by the City of Battle Ground stated.

Life Saving Medals were awarded to Officer Chris Pagaduan and Lt. Jason Perdue for separate incidents in which their quick, decisive actions saved lives. Commendation Medals were also presented to Sally McKerney, Emily Cain, Kayla Whitmire, Katrina Green, Lt. Jim Keller and Officer Chris Pagaduan for their contributions to investigations, special projects and public service. Officer John Gaves also received a recognition medal for 25 years of service, the news release stated.



Chief Dennis Flynn closed the ceremony by thanking the department’s staff and their families, emphasizing the importance of officer wellness and community support.
