Bethel Lutheran Church will host monthly concerts at its Brush Prairie location, with the first one slated for this month.

At 2 p.m. on May 7, Fear No More — a celebration of English and American art song — will be performed by baritone Ben Tissell and James Pick on the piano.

“Whether a classical music fan or someone simply looking to hear good music, concertgoers won’t want to miss this extraordinary recital featuring the works of Quilter, Finzi, Bernstein, Clarke, Copeland and others,” stated a news release from the church.

The Happy Accidentals, a six-man gospel harmony group formed in 2020, will then “share their love for the Lord and his gift of song” at 2 p.m. on June 11.

“When listening to The Happy Accidentals, attendees will hear rich harmonies and various genre styles ranging from gospel to big band to contemporary Christian,” stated the release.

The final show will be held at 2 p.m. on July 16. It will feature Saved by Grace, who will share their "Southern Gospel style" music.

"Although the faces in this group have changed over the years, this vocal trio has been based in Vancouver for more than 50 years," stated the release. "They remain steadfast in their belief that they are called to 'sing a new song' to those who have not heard as well as to remind believers that God is still working in lives today."

Pastor Lynne Ogren welcomes the community to the free concerts.

“We hope people will reach out to friends and neighbors and join us for a delightful afternoon of good music,” Ogren stated in the release. “There will be a chance for fellowship during a simple reception, which will follow each of the concerts.”

Bethel Lutheran Church, which was formed with only 32 members in 1917 as a Norwegian Lutheran congregation, is located on its original site just northeast of Brush Prairie. Sunday morning services at Bethel are available in person, on YouTube Live and by phone patch at 10 a.m., with Sunday school classes for children through adult beginning at 9 a.m.

The church is located at 12919 NE 159th St. in Brush Prairie.
