Charges to be filed in Woodland shooting that injured one person

Officers from the Woodland Police Department were called to the Horseshoe Lake Mobile Home Park in Woodland on July 27 in response to a reported shooting. 

Upon their arrival, officers found a man on the ground who had fallen out of a motorized wheelchair and there was blood in the street, stated a news release.

The shooter, who was identified as Joseph Leroy Ralls, 82, of Woodland, told police he lived at the mobile home park. Ralls remained at the scene for questioning, stated a news release from the Woodland Police Department.  

The man who was shot was identified as Kenneth Aguilar II, 33, of Woodland. Aguilar was reportedly driven away from the scene by his girlfriend, but was later transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment. He has since been released from the hospital and will recover from his injuries, stated the release. 

According to the release, Aguilar came to Ralls’ residence to collect money he was owed for work he performed. Aguilar was standing outside of the residence talking to Ralls when Ralls reportedly shot Aguilar through the kitchen window, stated the release. 

The case has been forwarded to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office for charges to be filed against Ralls, stated the release.
