The Clark County Auditor’s Office has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) with two awards for its financial reporting.

The office has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2021. It was the 36th consecutive year the office has received the honor. The ACFR report was judged to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.

In addition, the auditor’s office received the Award for Outstanding Achievement for its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). To be eligible for the PAFR award, a government must submit its annual comprehensive financial report to GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program and receive the certificate for the current fiscal year.

The Clark County Auditor’s Office produced its first PAFR in 2020, which is a user-friendly, highly visual report that summarizes information from the county’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

According to Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey, “Financial reporting is another tool to provide transparency and accountability to the public regarding their county government. Our hope is that residents will have confidence that information regarding taxpayer dollars is accurate and easily accessible.”

The GFOA, which provides best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve, presents the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting with the Certificate of Achievement. The reports are available on the auditor’s website.
