Clark County’s COVID-19 activity continues to decline with metrics from new cases to hospitalizations all dropping in the latest numbers.

Clark County Public Health’s Aug. 11 report included 121.2 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population over seven days, down from the 153.2 per 100,000 reported the prior week.

The case rate decreased for its third-straight week, and was the lowest the rate has been since April 28.

Recent case rates lag behind the most recent counts of cases. The health department’s most recent case rate was based on activity from July 26 to Aug. 1.

The health department reported 662 new COVID-19 cases between Aug. 4 and Aug. 11, fewer than the 742 reported between July 28 and Aug. 4. In total, there have been 102,722 confirmed and probable cases in Clark County since the outbreak began.

The confirmed deaths included a man older than 80, a man in his 70s, a man in his 60s and a man in his 50s. The death suspected to be due to COVID-19 was a woman in her 70s.

The deaths bring Clark County’s total to 887, including 765 confirmed and 122 suspected to be due to the disease.
