The Clark Public Utilities Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Sept. 7 to increase the salary for its CEO and general manager by $13,000.

Lena Wittler’s salary increased from $254,000 to $267,000, effective July 1. Wittler has served as the CEO and general manager since June 2019, stated a news release.

“Mrs. Wittler’s outstanding leadership has ensured continuity through this last year despite the many unprecedented difficulties our communities have faced,” said Jim Malinowski, the president of the Clark Public Utilities Board of Commissioners. “Under her guidance, staff has risen to the challenges of the pandemic and continued to deliver the vital services of electricity and water safely and reliably.”

The salary increase was approved after a review of Wittler’s performance and operations of the utility under her leadership over the last year. Other benefits and a car allowance of $400 per month stayed the same.

“Although we’ve experienced many unique conditions, staff has held firm to principles of fiscal discipline, service reliability and outstanding customer service,”  Wittler said. “I look forward to discovering more ways we can connect with and support our customers in the future and appreciate the commissioners’ continued confidence and trust in our team.”

Clark Public Utilities provides electric service to about 222,000 customers in Clark County, and also provides water service to more than 38,000 homes and businesses in the Hazel Dell, Salmon Creek, Lakeshore, Hockinson, Brush Prairie, La Center, Meadow Glade, Amboy and Yacolt areas.
