Lilac Days: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Sunday, May 14. The Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens will host Lilac Days in Woodland. The theme this year is “hats from the past” and collections will be on display in the new barn museum and in the historic house. The Klager house will also reopen this year. Guests can sign up at the gardens for tours of the house from 1 to 4 p.m. Photos and memorabilia of Hulda Klager and her family will be on display at the barn museum. There will be a quilt raffle fundraiser as well. The annual plant sale features lilacs and the gift shop will have lilac-themed items available. Admission to Lilac Days is $5 for adults. Children 12 and under can enter for free. The Lilac Gardens are located at 115 S. Pekin Road in Woodland.

GFWC meeting: 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 27. Join the General Foundation of Women’s Clubs Battle Ground chapter to learn more about the Clark County composting program. The meeting will be held at 14208 NE 249th St. in Battle Ground. GFWC is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

Charlotte’s Web: 7 p.m. on Friday, April 28, and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. Firm Foundation Christian School will host its high school theater production of Charlotte’s Web. Tickets cost $5 at the door. The performance will be held in the school’s gym at 1919 SW 25th Way in Battle Ground.

NatureScaping sale: 9 a.m. to noon for NatureScaping members and from noon to 4 p.m. for the public on Saturday, April 29. NatureScaping will hold its annual bare root tree, shrubs and perennial sale at the Wildlife Botanical Gardens located at 11000 NE 149th St., Brush Prairie. BGPS plant sale: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 30. A variety of annual and perennial bedding and flowering plants, vegetable starts and hanging baskets will be for sale. The items were grown in the greenhouses by students at Battle Ground Public Schools. Students and staff will be on hand. The money from the sale will support the district’s horticulture and FFA programs, and welding teams. CASEE is located at 11104 NE 149th St. in Brush Prairie.

Home and Garden Idea Fair: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 30. The 30th annual Clark Public Utilities Home and Garden Idea Fair will take place at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds. The event will showcase vendors and exhibitors from around the region. Woodland Library fundraiser: 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. The “Love Your Library” event put on by Friends of Woodland Community Library will feature silent and live auctions and live music by Fadin’ by 9. Buffet dinner, desserts and complimentary beverages will also be available. Hacker Architects will display the design for the new Woodland Community Library. Tickets cost $60. They can be purchased online at loveyourlibrary2023.eventbrite.com, by check or cash at the library or by mail to Friends of Woodland Library, P.O. Box 894, Woodland. The event will be held at Peterson’s Red Barn at 1605 Caples Road in Woodland.

Daughters of the Pioneers meeting: 12:30 p.m. for optional social time, meeting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 4. Join the Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington Chapter No. 9 as member Pepper Toelle Kim presents her method for organizing information from research on wagon trains. FFA Plant Sale: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 5, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. Woodland High School’s agriculture department will host its 33rd annual FFA Plant Sale. The plant sale features a wide variety of vegetables, geraniums, bedding plants, succulents, hanging baskets, and more. The student store accepts payment in the form of cash and personal check. No credit cards will be accepted.



Humane Society walk/run: 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 6. The Humane Society for Southwest Washington will hold its 32nd annual Walk/Run for the Animals event. People can bring their dogs to the event, which will be held at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver. For more information or to register, go online to hssw.org/walk.

Hockinson’s Father Daughter Ball: 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. The seventh annual Hockinson’s Father Daughter Ball will take place at the Cloverlane Event Center at 16391 NE 182nd Ave., Brush Prairie. Father-daughter duos of all ages are invited for a night of dancing, crafts and appetizers. The theme for this year’s event is “Knights and Princesses.” Only knights need to buy a ticket and they can bring as many princesses as they have. Tickets are all inclusive and include a professional 5x7 photograph, food and activities. The community outreach event is hosted by Elim Lutheran Church. Proceeds will go toward sending Younglife teens to summer camps. Tickets must be purchased in advance on eventbrite.com.

Document shredding and e-recycling: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. The Battle Ground Lions Club will host its annual free shredding and e-recycling event in the Battle Ground Albertson’s parking lot. The public is invited to bring personal documents to shred on-site. This year’s event will also accept tablets, laptops, computers, monitors, printers, mice, keyboards, game consoles and flat-screen televisions for recycling. Plant sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until items are sold out on Saturday, May 6. Join the Ridgefield Garden Club for its annual plant sale at Bennett Hall in Abrams Park in Ridgefield. The sale will feature hanging baskets, trees, herbs, sun and shade plants, shrubs, and homegrown vegetable and flower starts. Master Gardeners from the club will be on hand to answer questions. Cash, check or major credit cards are accepted. The Ridgefield Garden Club is a nonprofit organization. The sale helps fund its projects throughout the year. Mother’s Day plant sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. The WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program, in collaboration with the Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County, will hold its annual fundraising plant sale for Mother’s Day weekend at 78th Street Heritage Farm at 1919 NE 78th St. in Vancouver. Cash, checks and Visa, MasterCard or Discover cards will be accepted. People are encouraged to bring their own cart or wagon for large purchases. ADA parking will be available.

Kindy Club Night: 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 18. La Center Elementary School will host a Kindy Club Night for its incoming students. Students and parents will work on activities that will prepare students for school. Kindergarten registration for the upcoming school year is open. Children must turn 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, to enter kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year. Registration is available online at lacenterschools.org or at the elementary office at 700 E. Fourth St.  between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Parents and guardians must bring their child’s immunization record and a copy of their legal birth certificate. People are asked to register their children as early as possible.
