Columbia River Square Dancers: Lessons 6 to 8 p.m. on Sundays, dances at 7 p.m. for plus level and 8 to 9:45 p.m. for mainstream level on the first and third Friday of each month. Battle Ground Lake State Park First Day Hike: 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 1. Come to Battle Ground Lake State Park for a volunteer-led interpretive hike through the forest, where you can learn about the history and ecology of the area. At the end of the hike, coffee and doughnuts will be offered at the kitchen shelter. Make sure to bring hiking shoes for muddy terrain, wet weather gear, water, and snacks. Never Be Forgotten ceremony: 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5. Join the Community Military Appreciation Committee, Patriot Guard Riders, and AMVETS Organization in a ceremony honoring Corporal Jeremiah J. Johnson, who died fighting in Baghdad, Iraq on Jan. 5, 2007. The ceremony will be located at Kiwanis Park in Battle Ground, near Southwest Third Avenue and Southwest Fourth Street.
