Community calendar for Aug. 25 edition

Bloodworks Northwest: Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 25-26 at the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main St. To help stabilize the blood supply, community members can make appointments to donate blood. Face masks will be required. Walk-ins, guests and those under 16 will not be allowed. Those interested must bring photo identification and are encouraged to stay hydrated before donating blood. To make an appointment, visit bloodworksnw.org.

La Center Cruise-In: 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 26 at the La Center Church, 111 E. Fifth St. Car enthusiasts can participate in a cruise-in organized by the La Center Farmers Market. The event has space for 50 classic cars, trucks and tractors. There is a fee of $10 per vehicle. Participating vehicle owners will be entered into a raffle. Other planned activities include a pie-eating contest, beautiful baby contest, bingo and children-focused activities. Rocksolid summer concert: 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28 at Pomeroy Cellars, 20902 NE Lucia Falls Road, Yacolt. The teen center will hold its annual summer concert, with local band Generation Headstrong and singer/songwriter Amber Sweeney providing the evening’s entertainment. Tickets cost $25 per person. Attendees can peruse vendors and raffle items or stop by the Fat Boy Tacos booth for food. To purchase tickets, visit rocksolid-teen.com/events.

Camp Hope of Southwest Washington: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28 at Camp Hope, 12800 NE Roper Road, Battle Ground. Families and children, ages 10 to 17, can participate in an Outdoor Discovery Camp. It costs $40 per camper or $30 family discount rate. Scholarships are available. CCSAR auction: 8 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 29 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5 online at cowlitzsar.org/auction.php. The second Clark County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team’s online auction will include a variety of gifts, vacations, beverages, golf trips and a whale watching trip for people to bid on. The funds raised from the event will cover operations and replace equipment for the nonprofit. CCSAR, which is made up of volunteers, search for lost or missing community members year-round.

Ridgefield First Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4 at Ridgefield Overlook Park, 113-131 S. Main Ave. The city of Ridgefield will host its fourth annual multicultural festival to celebrate its diverse community. Activities include performances, crafts, a basketball tournament and market vendors. Battle Ground Art Alliance sale: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 at Kiwanis Park, 422 SW Second Ave., Battle Ground. The art alliance will host an outdoor art sale. No kits or mass-produced items will be allowed and the alliance asks for entries to be family-friendly. Member vendors can pay $40 for a 10-by-10 foot space, $50 for non-members and $10 per person for a group tent. Vendors must contact the BGAA by Aug. 15. Experience Ridgefield event: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center at 510 Pioneer St., Ridgefield. Families are invited to attend Experience Ridgefield after the event was canceled last year. The community carnival features family-friendly activities like an inflatable bouncy house, miniature golf, face painting and a selfie photo booth. Craft and food vendors will also be in attendance. Ridgefield Oktoberfest: 2 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 at Overlook Park, 113-131 S. Main Ave. Enjoy German-style food, local beers and live music at the annual Ridgefield Oktoberfest. Michael Fischer Oompah Band and Countryside Ride will take the stage and vendors, like Urban German and the Ridgefield Lions Club, will provide Bavarian menu items. Attendees can also watch wiener dog races, a costume contest and other games. Battin’ for Blue Softball Tournament: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex, 3101 S. Hillhurst Road, Ridgefield. Ten teams will compete in the first Battin’ for Blue Softball Tournament for bragging rights and a trophy. Teams can have a maximum of 15 people each, with at least five of them being female. Brackets will be shared two weeks in advance.

Furry Friends auction: Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 15-18 online. For the nonprofit’s 13th annual online auction, those interested can bid on items, like a beach getaway valued at $1,050 or a hand-carved white jade cabbage valued at $500.
