Lilac Days: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Sunday, May 14. The Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens will host Lilac Days in Woodland. The theme this year is “hats from the past” and collections will be on display in the new barn museum and in the historic house. The Klager house will also reopen this year. Guests can sign up at the gardens for tours of the house from 1 to 4 p.m. Photos and memorabilia of Hulda Klager and her family will be on display at the barn museum. There will be a quilt raffle fundraiser as well. The annual plant sale features lilacs and the gift shop will have lilac-themed items available. Admission to Lilac Days is $5 for adults. Children 12 and under can enter for free. The lilac gardens are located at 115 S. Pekin Road in Woodland.

Daughters of the Pioneers meeting: 12:30 p.m. for optional social time, meeting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 4. Join the Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington Chapter No. 9 as member Pepper Toelle Kim presents her method for organizing information from research on wagon trains. FFA Plant Sale: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 5, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. Woodland High School’s agriculture department will host its 33rd annual FFA Plant Sale. The plant sale features a wide variety of vegetables, geraniums, bedding plants, succulents, hanging baskets and more. The student store accepts payment in the form of cash and personal check. No credit cards will be accepted.

Humane Society walk/run: 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 6. The Humane Society for Southwest Washington will hold its 32nd annual Walk/Run for the Animals event. People can bring their dogs to the event, which will be held at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver. For more information or to register, go online to hssw.org/walk.

Hockinson’s Father Daughter Ball: 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. The seventh annual Hockinson’s Father Daughter Ball will take place at the Cloverlane Event Center at 16391 NE 182nd Ave., Brush Prairie. Father-daughter duos of all ages are invited for a night of dancing, crafts and appetizers. The theme for this year’s event is “Knights and Princesses.” Only knights need to buy a ticket and they can bring as many princesses as they have. Tickets are all inclusive and include a professional 5x7 photograph, food and activities. The community outreach event is hosted by Elim Lutheran Church. Proceeds will go toward sending YoungLife teens to summer camps. Tickets must be purchased in advance on eventbrite.com.

Document shredding and e-recycling: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. The Battle Ground Lions Club will host its annual free shredding and e-recycling event in the Battle Ground Albertson’s parking lot. The public is invited to bring personal documents to shred on-site. This year’s event will also accept tablets, laptops, computers, monitors, printers, mice, keyboards, game consoles and flat-screen televisions for recycling. Plant sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until items are sold out on Saturday, May 6. Join the Ridgefield Garden Club for its annual plant sale at Bennett Hall in Abrams Park in Ridgefield. The sale will feature hanging baskets, trees, herbs, sun and shade plants, shrubs, and homegrown vegetable and flower starts. Master Gardeners from the club will be on hand to answer questions. Cash, check or major credit cards are accepted. The Ridgefield Garden Club is a nonprofit organization. The sale helps fund its projects throughout the year. Savor SWWA Wine event: Noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. Join the Southwest Washington Winery Association for unlimited tastings, small bites from four restaurants, area chocolate, coffee and live music. Twenty wineries and tasting rooms will take part in the Savor SWWA Wine event, including ones from Battle Ground, Ridgefield and Woodland. Tickets are $75 per person. The event will take place at Groove Nation Performing Arts Center at 3000 Columbia House Blvd. #107 in Vancouver.

Port of Woodland celebration: 2 p.m. on Friday, May 12. The Port of Woodland invites the community to celebrate its completion of the fiber backbone from Ariel to Cougar. The event will take place at the Yale Valley Community Library at 11700 Lewis River Road in Ariel.

Mother’s Day plant sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. The WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program, in collaboration with the Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County, will hold its annual fundraising plant sale for Mother’s Day weekend at 78th Street Heritage Farm at 1919 NE 78th St. in Vancouver. Cash, checks and Visa, Mastercard or Discover cards will be accepted. People are encouraged to bring their own cart or wagon for large purchases. ADA parking will be available.

Kindy Club Night: 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 18. La Center Elementary School will host a Kindy Club Night for its incoming students. Students and parents will work on activities that will prepare students for school. Kindergarten registration for the upcoming school year is open. Children must turn 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 to enter kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year. Registration is available online at lacenterschools.org or at the elementary office at 700 E. Hazel Dell Parade of Bands: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20. The 57th annual Hazel Dell Parade of Bands will include 25 local bands, parade floats, classic cars and more. Several roads will be closed for the parade. Starting at 8 a.m., Hazel Dell Avenue will be closed from 78th to 99th streets. At 10 a.m., 63rd Street from Hazel Dell Avenue to Highway 99 will be closed, along with Highway 99 from 63rd Street to 79th Street. Vacation Bible School: 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 26 to Thursday, June 29. Join Bethel Lutheran Church for “Stellar VBS: Shine Jesus’ Light.” It will be held at the church, which is located at 12919 NE 159th St. in Brush Prairie. The Vacation Bible School will feature teamwork-building games, songs, Bible learning activities and more. Miss Teen competition: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Program, which has been renamed to the Miss Teen La Center North County Scholarship Program, will hold its competition at La Center Middle School at 2001 NE Lockwood Creek Road. The program has expanded its competition to include Woodland, Battle Ground, Yacolt and Amboy.
