County public works responding to ‘minor’ impacts from rain

Clark County Public Works is responding to impacts from recent heavy rains in the area as crews address standing water and downed tree limb issues on county roads and in parks.

The department said Clark County had “minor” impacts from the rains as of Friday afternoon as flooding affected other areas in the state. Crews are also ready to assist neighboring areas like Skamania County if needed.

Current impacts include closures of Lacamas Heritage Trail, Round Lake Trail at Lacamas Regional Park and portions of the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail, according to a news release. Moulton Falls has areas of standing water over trails and park areas and the Daybreak Boat Launch is inaccessible due to high water.

Clark County Public Works reminded residents to not walk, ride or drive through water if they can’t tell how deep it is. Six-inch deep water can sweep an adult off their feet.

Sandbags are available to residents for free from Clark County Public Works at 4700 NE 78th St. and 11609 NE 149th St. Residents will need to fill their own bags, though bags and sand are provided. Materials are available all hours of the day, all days of the week.
