First responders were dispatched to a report of a vehicle on fire in a shop at a residence in the Meadow Glade area just south of Battle Ground shortly before 2:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

When firefighters arrived from the Dollar Corner station, just east of Battle Ground, they were able to put the vehicle fire out in the shop bay, which was located in the 17800 block of Northeast 110th Avenue.

The fire extended into the attic of the shop but was under control in around 20 minutes, according to Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Jason Leavitt.

“The property owner was welding a vehicle in the shop. He walked away for a minute and came back and found that it was on fire,” Leavitt said. “The fire extended into the shop and into the attic.”

No one was injured during the fire.

Firefighters from Clark County Fire District 3, Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue, and the Vancouver Fire Department responded to the blaze.
