A summer favorite in the car enthusiast community has returned to the Cascade foothills of Eastern Clark County.
Alderbrook Park in Brush Prairie held its first cruise-in of the season on Friday, May 26, as 450 cars filled the lawn by 5:30 p.m.
The special interest vehicle cruise-ins will continue every Friday, weather permitting, from 4 to 8 p.m. until Sept. 15.
Due to size limitations and fire regulations, the park had to turn away dozens of vehicles during the first event of the year, so participants are advised to come early on Fridays.
“If you come out to the park when you come for the cruise-in, you get to swim in the pool, pedal boats, bounce houses (and) mini golf is all included in your admission,” Chris Bryden, with Alderbrook Park, said. “It’s fun for the entire family.”
The cruise-in on May 26 included classic cars, trucks and Volkswagen buses, alongside current era muscle cars. There was also a concrete pad for motorcycles to park.
Each Friday, spectators and those arriving in show vehicles can expect between 400 to 500 cars and over a dozen motorcycles.
Alderbrook Park offers a beer garden, burgers and concessions. Along with their own food and drinks, Flo’s Shaved Ice, North County Coffee, a taco truck and other food and drink providers will be available, alongside other vendors.
“We sell a lot of Japanese cars, German cars, but the domestic cars are usually the hit here,” Joe Luarca, with HIPIC DIECAST, said on May 26.
Luarca said his vendor stand sees good business at the cruise-in events, as they typically make over 100 sales per day.
A large area for spectator parking is available, but during the cruise-in on May 26, the line to get in reached around 100 cars long. Bryden said he hopes to find an easier entry and exit system for spectators to limit the lines.
Those who want to attend a cruise-in should plan to arrive by 5 p.m. with their special interest vehicle and for spectator parking.
Alderbrook Park is located at 24414 NE Westerholm Road in Brush Prairie.
The entry cost for spectators is $8 per adult, $5 for kids 13 and under, and children 3 and under can enter for free. Cash and card is accepted.
The special interest vehicle entry cost is $10 per car and only cash is accepted. The motorcycle entry fee is $5. The entry for cruise-in vehicles is separate from spectator entry.
