District roundup: Ridgefield boys are the only North Clark County team to advance to state

The Ridgefield boys basketball team is the only team in North Clark County that will advance to the state tournament.

The Spudders defeated Black Hills, 55-30, on Feb. 16 and will advance to play Enumclaw in a win-or-go-home game at Auburn High School at 4 p.m. on Feb. 25.

Here are the results of how North Clark County schools fared during districts:

1A girls districts

The La Center girls lost 67-5 against Montesano on Feb. 9. In their next game against Eatonville, La Center lost 52-35, ending the Wildcat’s season.

2A girls districts

Ridgefield lost to W.F. West on Feb. 10, but beat Aberdeen 61-54 on Feb. 13. Ridgefield was eliminated after a 58-38 loss against league opponent Columbia River on Feb. 15.

Woodland lost to Tumwater on Feb. 10 by a score of 51-26, but bounced back to survive Washougal with a 48-45 win. The team played in a matchup against league opponent Mark Morris, which resulted in a 49-39 loss and the end of the Beavers’ season on Feb. 15.

3A girls districts

The girls from Prairie High School had a league record of 6-1, which landed them a game against No. 16 seed Timberline (Lacey). Prairie won that game on Feb. 10 with a score of 50-37. Prairie then advanced to play Gig Harbor on Feb. 14, which resulted in a season ending loss of 55-37.



1A boys districts

The La Center boys struggled in an 86-57 loss to Hoquiam on Feb. 10. They were given a second chance against Tenino, where the Wildcats won with a score of 49-45. La Center advanced to play Eatonville on Feb. 16, resulting in an 81-59 victory. In a game against league opponent Seton Catholic, La Center lost 55-51 on Feb. 18 ending the Wildcats’ season.

2A boys districts

Ridgefield lost to Tumwater on Feb. 11 in a 66-43 game. Ridgefield then played W.F. West on Feb. 14, securing a 62-52 win, which advanced the team to play Black Hills on Feb. 16 for a chance to go to state. The Spudders won 55-30. They are set to play Enumclaw in a win-or-go-home game at Auburn High School at 4 p.m. on Feb. 25.

Woodland lost to Black Hills 66-59 on Feb. 11. The Beavers played Columbia River on Feb. 14 and eliminated the Rapids with a score of 63-59. Woodland advanced to play Tumwater on Feb. 16, but lost 68-43 ending their season.

3A boys districts

Prairie survived a play-in game against Bainbridge on Feb. 8, with a 55-47 win. The Falcons’ season came to an end in a high-scoring affair against Silas on Feb. 11 by a final score of 86-72.

4A boys districts

Battle Ground secured the No. 15 seed and knocked off No. 10 seed Puyallup, 68-66, on Feb. 11 in a win-or-go-home game. Playing the No. 7 seed Sumner Spartans, the Tigers lost 61-55 on Feb. 15 to bring an end to their season.
