The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge River S Unit plays host to dozens of species of wildlife, especially migratory birds. On Thanksgiving Day, the highest checklist on eBird tallied up 54 species of avians. Around the River S Unit auto loop, birders can view Tundra Swans, a variety of duck species, four species of sparrows, owls and more.
