The Clark County Event Center in Ridgefield will host the first Clark County Roadster Show on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9.
Organizer Patrick Haynes has a love for cars and is excited to see what the community has to show off.
“(People can expect) some of the coolest hot rods in the Pacific Northwest,” Haynes said. “Everything from the 1932 Ford Coupe to a 2019 Ferrari 488.”
He said the show will feature a number of vehicles, many of which include hot rods valued between $100,000 to $400,000. Although it’s hard for him to choose a favorite, Haynes said he’s personally a fan of GTOs.
“There’s some cars that are just spectacular. These are the best of the best,” he said. “You wouldn’t see these on a normal Saturday afternoon car show.”
Although this is the first Clark County Roadster Show, Haynes said he has hosted car shows for the past 20 years.
“(With) this one, it just seemed like the timing and everything was good after COVID, and we haven’t had much to do the past couple of years,” he said. “That was my big interest in starting it.”
Despite it being the first show he’s hosted in Ridgefield, he noted that every car show is a little different. At the Roadster Show, there will be games for kids, trophies, food and vendors. There will also be a cornhole tournament where kids will be able to earn prizes. At the raffle, there’ll be “anything from cash to $450 breakouts,” he said.
The food will be catered by Mark Matthias, the owner of Beaches Restaurant and Bar in Vancouver.
Haynes said he enjoys everything about running car shows, “from start to finish.”
“I love getting up every morning to work on these shows. I’ve been working on this for about 11 months,” he said.
Haynes said getting the idea off the ground was the hardest part of organizing it. However, he emphasized that he enjoys it despite the challenges.
“It’s a passion, so there isn’t anything hard,” Haynes said. “(The passion) takes away the work element. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.”
Besides cars, he said classic rock and roll band The Kingsmen will perform live music, as they’re known for the famous song, “Louie Louie.” Haynes is a big fan and friend of the band, noting they have sold 40 million records over their career.
“‘Louie Louie’ was one of the biggest hits ever written in rock and roll history,” he said. “They’re out in Portland. They were around with Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Kingsmen, Merrilee Rush, all those groups (of) Northwest rock and roll.”
The event will be held at the Clark County Event Center at 17402 NE Delfel Road in Ridgefield from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Tickets at the door cost $20 for general admission, $18 for military members, and kids 12 and under can enter for free. All local O’Reilly Auto Parts stores will sell tickets for $17. Parking is $6 per vehicle.
