Former anesthesiologist from Ridgefield rejuvenates people’s skin

Aesthetic services can make a difference in enhancing a person’s skin and Ethereal Aesthetics in Ridgefield does what it can to meet that need.

Owner Jennifer Perry was a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist before she started her business. Perry said both practices go hand-in-hand with one another.

“My inspiration came from my background in nursing and wanting to help people just improve their life in general,” Perry said. “It seemed like a natural transformation to go from anesthesia into the realm of aesthetics.”

She said much of her nursing skills were “well-equipped” for the purpose of aesthetics. Since she was a client of other aestheticians, Perry realized she had the required knowledge and experience “to take it to the next level.” She decided to get trained in aesthetic services.

She said anesthesia and aesthetics are similar because both require knowledge of anatomy and regional techniques to numb certain areas of the body.

“I’m pretty skilled with a needle, you could say,” Perry said.

She said much of the aesthetic injections are for Botox and fillers. Perry said she wants to help people manifest what they envision themselves to look like.

The hyaluronic acid fillers help with skin rejuvenation in plumped areas of the face, or help repair lost tissue volume due to aging. She also does microneedling Potenza treatments, which utilize a radio frequency energy current that’s delivered into the dermis “to promote your body’s natural collagen and elastin to reaccumulate in those areas where you’ve lost volume, that kind of tightened skin.”

Potenza treatments can help get rid of redness and age spots, while reducing the size of pores, providing people with a rejuvenated, “youthful look,” Perry said.

Ethereal Aesthetics also offers dermaplaning. The technique involves a surgical blade that scrapes off the top layer of dead skin and gets rid of “peach fuzz” on people’s faces so they can replenish the newer skin underneath it. Other offerings include B-12 injections. The vitamin is one that many people lack, Perry said. It helps with nail and skin growth, elevates mood and regulates metabolism, among other things, according to Perry.

Perry has helped even out asymmetrical cheeks or lips of her clients, which can sometimes be caused by aestheticians who put too much filler in one side.

“Trying to balance things out from other people’s work is probably the most challenging thing I’ve encountered with this new adventure,” she said.

Besides her procedures, she also offers prescriptions like Latisse through the company Allergan, which helps lashes grow longer naturally.

“And then I have a skincare line that’s prescription based that’s used for people who have more annoying skin conditions like melasma, acne, rosacea, things like that,” Perry said.

Ethereal Aesthetics is located at 5021 S. 19th St. in Ridgefield. The business is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
