Hockinson boys soccer team secures spot in 2A state tournament

The Hockinson boys soccer team advanced to the 2A state tournament after they went 2-1 in the district tournament, while Woodland and La Center’s seasons came to an end.

During Hockinson’s first game, the team lost 4-1 to Tumwater on May 6 and the team then beat the Hudson’s Bay Eagles, 3-2, on May 9 to advance to a win-or-go-home game with W.F. West, where the Hawks secured a 2-1 victory on May 11.

The state tournament is set to take place from May 16 to May 27 at Renton Memorial Stadium.



The Woodland boys soccer team’s season came to an end after a 1-0 loss to Tumwater on May 11. Prior to that game, Woodland went into a win-or-go-home game against R.A. Long and came out on top 2-1 on May 9. The team made quite the run after losing 8-0 against best-in-state Columbia River on May 6. The Spudders also won a play-in game on May 4 over Black Hills, 2-1.

La Center’s district campaign resulted in two losses. During game one, La Center was defeated 7-2 by Montesano on May 6. In game two on May 9, the Wildcats were knocked out by Elma during a 4-0 loss.
