In loving memory of Arpa Martell: 1935-2022

Arpa Carlene Evelyn Martell passed away on April 10, 2022 in Battle Ground, Washington, at the age of 87. She was born to Loui and Ethel Petersen on March 27, 1935 in Portland, Oregon. She was raised on her family’s dairy farm in Orchards, Washington. She graduated from Evergreen High School and earned an associate of arts degree from Clark College. She spent many happy years as a dietary supervisor at Columbia View Manor and Meadow Glade Manor. Arpa was an active member of her community as a Sunday school teacher, a 4-H leader, a matron for the Junior Grange No. 229, and a lifetime member of Washington Grange No. 82. She was also a member of The Daughters of The Pioneers of Washington, TOPPS, the Mad Hatters, and many others. She enjoyed going out to lunch with friends and was an avid reader. 

She is preceded in death by her former husband Nick Martell, her daughter Nickee Breiman, son-in-law Barry Breiman, and granddaughter Elizabeth Smith. She leaves behind her two sons Rick and Eric Martell, a daughter Michelle Martell, and brother Arlo Petersen, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This world was made a better place by her life and she will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. A special thanks to Brookfield/Parkway North for the loving care they gave her in her final years. 

A service will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. on April 19, 2022.
