In loving memory of Beverly Grisham: 1936-2023

Posted

Beverly Ann Grisham was born in Mound City, Missouri on Aug. 6, 1936. She was raised by her parents, Alfred and Naomi, along with her four younger sisters.

When Beverly was 15, the family moved to Conway, Arkansas. She quit school to work at the local shoe factory. One of her co-workers introduced her to his brother, Bob, while Bob was home on leave from the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. They only had a few dates before Bob was shipped out and they fell in love writing letters to each other over the next year. Bob was discharged in December of 1953, and they married on Jan. 1, 1954, when Beverly was 17. Bob and Beverly had two daughters, Teresa and Sherrie, before moving to the Pacific Northwest to be near Beverly's parents and sisters who had moved to Ridgefield. After their third daughter, Angela, was born, the family moved to Longview, where Beverly was proud to get her GED from Lower Columbia College.

After building a house and moving to Ridgefield, Beverly worked in banking at Peoples and 1st Independent. She became a realtor and worked for Caribou Realty a few years before becoming a loan officer. After retiring from Eagle Home Mortgage, she and Bob enjoyed traveling, their family and their friends. When Bob passed in 2008, Beverly continued to enjoy traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bob, of 54 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Dan), Sherrie (Hutch) and Angela (Ron); her sisters, Evie (Ed), Elaine (Duane), Betty (Merrill) and Kathy (Dan); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, Washington, 98684. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to your favorite charity.
