In loving memory of Carolyn Janice Hetsler: 1951-2022

Posted

Carolyn Janice Hetsler left this earthly realm on May 3, 2022, after a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. She was 71 years old.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband Gary and two sons Justin and Marc. Carolyn was born and raised in Mitchell, South Dakota, with her four sisters and one brother. She graduated from Arizona State University and went on to raise her family in northern Oregon. Carolyn was a school teacher for over 30 years and was married to Gary for 51 years.

To say she was one of the most wonderful, selfless, and considerate people you could ever meet is an understatement. Even in the final months of her life she remained concerned about the welfare of everyone else around her despite her own suffering.

Her students, friends and family were truly blessed to have a person like Carolyn in their lives. All who loved her will never forget her tenacity, wit, grace, sense of humor and the loving person she was to all she encountered.

Carolyn was an amazing mother, sister, friend and aunt. The finest storyteller, a woman of God, and an exceptional teacher who enjoyed golfing and having fun with her sisters and teacher friends.

A celebration of life ceremony is scheduled for June 30, 2022, at 1 p.m. at New Heights Church in Battle Ground.
