Donna Mae Wallace Bowling, age 85, passed from this life on Jan. 27, 2025. She was born on Nov. 11, 1939, in Sidney, Montana, and was the oldest child of Pearl and James Wallace.
A beloved sister, mother and grandmother, she is remembered for her caring and loving compassion, kindness and willingness to help others and volunteer. She enjoyed being outside in nature, walking, swimming, cooking, reading books, shopping for clothes, watching movies and visiting and talking to people.
At an early age, her family moved to Walla Walla, Washington, where she grew up and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1957. She attended Washington State University and received her degree in business education in 1961. She began her teaching career in Puyallup, Washington, then at Columbia River High School and at Battle Ground High School where she retired in 2011 after 30-plus years of teaching. She taught countless local students typing and, as an ambassador of Future Business Leaders of America, she enjoyed traveling to national competitions with her local students in the summers.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Vancouver, Washington, where she volunteered and participated in parish activities.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her three sons and her five grandchildren: Matt Bowling, of Vancouver; Aaron Bowling and wife, Heather, and children, Grant, Anna, and Drew of Ruston, Louisiana; Tim Bowling and wife, Erica, and children, Grace and Alex, of Centennial, Colorado. Donna is also survived by her brother, Tom Wallace, of Tacoma, Washington, and his children, Traci and Troy, along with all other very special nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at Evergreen Memorial Garden followed by the celebration of life service at 11:30 a.m. Graveside service and hospitality will follow the service.
