In loving memory of Donna Walker: 1937-2022

Donna Rae Walker of Yacolt, Washington, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children on July 27, 2022. Donna was born on July 11, 1937, in Mount Vernon, Pennsylvania, to John and Martha Rhone. She was the youngest of 11 children. She married William L. Walker and together they raised six children. The family moved to Yacolt in 1965. 

Donna was a homemaker and a fantastic cook and baker whose specialities included Popeye soup and whoopie pies. She also worked as an adult caregiver and at Yacolt Elementary School. 

She was known for her strong faith, sense of humor, and love of family and friends. Her favorite pastime was watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She was an avid walker and enjoyed early morning and late evening walks around town. For more than 57 years, Donna attended Yacolt Community Church. She volunteered on the North County Little League Board and her church Sunday school and nursery. 

Donna was preceded in death by her husband William L. Walker. 

She is survived by her children Brian (Terry) Walker, Bob (Lori) Walker, Tim (Lori) Walker, Gary (Jennifer) Walker, Kathy (Doug) Hemenway and Kelly (Mike) Steuben; grandchildren Jenny Walker, Eric Walker, Elizabeth Volker, Kyle Walker, Timmy Walker, Lukas Walker, Jordan Bailiff, Will Hemenway, RaeLee Hemenway, Taylor Steuben and Lorigan Steuben; and great-grandchildren Emma Walker, Gunner Walker, Abby Walker, Keaton Hattenburg, Henlee Bailiff and Lewis Bailiff. 

Arrangements are under the care of Layne’s Funeral Home in Battle Ground, Washington. Viewing is available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Yacolt Community Church with the burial immediately following the service. A reception will be held at the church following the burial.
