In loving memory of Dorothy Davis: 1926-2022

Dorothy (Dot) Ellen Davis passed away July 15, 2022, in Battle Ground, Washington. She was 95 years of age. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at Paonia Friends Church. 

Dorothy was born in Granby, Colorado, on Dec. 12, 1926, to John William and Dorothy Ellen Chase. She attended Beaverbrook and Rockland elementary schools in Jefferson County, graduating from Golden, Colorado high school in 1942 at the age of 16. She spent two years helping at her parent’s lodge before graduating from Colorado University in 1948 with a bachelor of science degree and began a long career in education. 

Dorothy married Leonard Davis on Jan. 1, 1951, at Jack’s Mountain Lodge in Rollinsville, Colorado. They soon welcomed four children into their family: Steve, Janet, Jack and David. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents John and Dorothy Chase; husband Leonard Davis; son Steve; brothers John, Harold and Jimmy; sisters Edith and Dee; and brothers-in-law Ame and Jim. 

She is survived by children Janet (spouse Arden), Jack (spouse Kim) and Dave (spouse Theresa), 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and by sisters Lois, Lucille (spouse Bob), Gail (spouse Wayne) and Pat (Steve). 

She is fondly remembered for her delight in her family and lavish hospitality. She made children feel loved and adored, creatively unleashing imagination and entering their world. 

A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at Paonia Friends Church in Paonia, Colorado.
