In Loving Memory Of Erling Bruce Jenson: 1946 ~ 2025

Posted

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Erling Bruce Jenson: devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, cherished brother and honored veteran.

Bruce was born in Vancouver, Washington, Oct. 22, 1946, to Erling Fredrick and Ernestine Mary Jenson. Bruce was the eldest son of four children. As a child he enjoyed baseball, practical jokes and spending time outdoors. He graduated from Evergreen High School in 1965. In 1966, he married the love of his life, Marlene A. Lund. The two focused their combined energy on building a family and a life together.

If you asked Bruce, he would eagerly share all the details of his children’s lives — he was immensely proud of each of them. His six surviving children, Kenneth B., Melissa R., Brandie M., Nelsa D., Erling G. and Lauren A., were his greatest accomplishments and the source of endless joy. Bruce’s pride extended to his 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who filled his heart with happiness and brought him boundless delight.

Bruce, who had never ventured far from home, bravely answered the call to serve his country in Vietnam — a world away. Across oceans and continents, he found himself in a place where the people, language and landscapes were entirely foreign. Yet, he went. He endured unimaginable losses and witnessed the cost of war firsthand. Though he rarely spoke of it, Bruce was a natural-born protector who carried his service with quiet pride, honoring the role he fulfilled during the Vietnam War. When Bruce had time, he loved tuning into sports. On any given day you would find Bruce cheering, jeering or side-chair coaching his favorite teams. He shared his love of the game with those around him. His passion was contagious.

Bruce was a dear friend to many and will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty and dedication. His legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Moving forward in faith, we trust in the day when we joyously reunite.
