In loving memory of Frank Hansen: 1932-2022

Posted

Frank Hansen was born on June 26, 1932, in Etna, Washington to August and Esther Hansen. Frank was the fifth of their six children.

Frank attended Green Mountain Grade School and boarded at Columbia Academy. Upon graduation from the academy, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Frank’s son Lonnie, and granddaughters Kristina and Alicia, also joined the Air Force. Frank was so proud that his son and two of his granddaughter’s followed in his footsteps.

Frank married Dorothy Osbourne in 1955 and they had three children together. Rick was born in 1956, Cena was born in 1958 and Lonnie followed in 1962. Frank and Dorothy divorced in 1970. Frank later married Shirley in 1976 and they were divorced in 1995.

Frank lived in Montana, Oregon, Washington and California where he did literature evangelism for 15 years while married to Dorothy. Frank loved the Lord so very much and gave praise and thanks to the Lord every day of his life.

Frank later became a cattle broker, buying and selling cattle every day at the Portland auction. There was an article written and published in June 1995 with Frank on the front page of the daily newspaper on the last day of the Portland Livestock Exchange before it closed its doors for the last time. After that, Frank bought and sold fixer uppers and owned rentals. God was so good to him. He sold all but one property that he had at the time of his death.

In 2015, due to bad health, Frank and his wife, Nanci, moved to College Place, Washington. Nanci took care of Frank at home by herself until Jan. 1, 2022. Frank was hospitalized for 11 days, and hospice said Frank needed to go to a foster home. He lived there three days and passed away in his sleep in the early hours of Jan. 14, 2022. Hospice nurses and chaplain's were great in managing Frank’s care.

Frank is survived by his wife Nanci Hansen of College Place, Washington; his son, Lonnie Hansen of Spanaway, Washington; and sister Hilda Wiggins of Haley, Oregon. Frank has six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents August and Esther Hansen, his son Rick Hansen and his daughter Cena Hansen, brother Walter Hansen, brother Bob Hansen, sister Marie Haynes and sister Donna Bell Hansen.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 12, 2022, in Woodland, Washington at the Cedar Creek Adventist Church at 2:30 p.m. Frank will be buried before the service at Mountain View Cemetery with only family members present.
