In loving memory of Judith Nydegger

Posted

Judith Lillian Nydegger (Oldham) passed away surrounded by her children, Lisa and Danny, and her dear friend of many years, Becky Mickel.

A longtime Battle Ground resident, Judy was known by many people as a good friend who was always generous and loving. She was a women's actionist, paving the way for women's rights through the things she achieved during her life. She bought her own home the same year women were allowed a mortgage, raised her two children independently and worked many jobs over the years, oftentimes holding multiple jobs to support her family.

During the 1980s, she worked in the aluminum carbide industry where she was proud to be the first woman “white hat” for Carborundum Company. Judy worked in many restaurants as a cook for many years.

Judy has two grandsons, Harley and Zachary, who she took care of during their younger years as her daughter Lisa worked. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Emma Nydegger. Judy leaves behind a son and daughter, Lisa and Daniel Oldham, and two grandsons, Harley and Zachary. She was fondly known by many more as Grandma Judy.

There will be a funeral at 11 a.m. March 17, 2023, at Layne’s Funeral Home in Battle Ground. A celebration of her life will be held immediately after the service.
