It is with a heavy heart that the family of Larry Gene Dingman announces his passing on Jan. 13, 2023. He died peacefully at home surrounded by love. Larry was born on Nov. 24, 1937, in Leon, Iowa, before moving to Washington in 1965 for work. He worked for WSDOT as a member of the IFPTE (Local 17) for 29 years. Larry belonged to the Grand Lodge of Iowa Masonic Temple for over 50 years.
In 1975, Larry coached his two daughters in softball. He enjoyed it so much that he continued to coach for many years after his daughters were done playing, even winning a state championship at Glenwood Little League.
Larry lived a full life, dancing whenever and wherever he could. He loved cruising, traveling all over the world and making new friends along the way. He also enjoyed playing cards and was dubbed "lucky" due to his knack for winning.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Sharon, as well as his parents Winford and Maxine and brother Leland.
He is survived by his two daughters, Laretta Kumm and Lisa Dingman; his son-in-law, Frank; his grandchildren, Paige, Megan (Josh), Brandon (Alina) and Jered (Kate); and three great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Marley and Charlotte.
Larry's chuckle, smile and winking eye will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please donate in his honor to hospice at wshpco. org (or any local hospice group). Kaiser hospice was amazing and our family could not be more grateful. Alternatively, donate to an animal shelter or children's sports program. Both animals and kids participating in sports were of importance to Larry.
