In Loving Memory of Larry Slattery: 1949-2025

Posted

Larry Dean Slattery went home to Jesus on May 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Teri; his daughter Nicole, husband Mike, and their son Nicolas Abilla; and his son Larry, wife Amanda, along with their children Hank, Olive and Millie. Many family members live on to remember Larry. These include his sister Beverly and her husband Ron Burback; his brother Terry; his sisters-in-law Kay and Linda Slattery; as well as his beloved nieces, nephews and their families.

Larry was born in 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Harold and Grace. The family later moved to Portland, Oregon, where Larry attended Grant High School. He joined the family business, Funtastic Traveling Shows, and quickly became known as the smile-bringer, the man who brought laughter and good times to the midway. In 2005, Larry served as the president of the Showman’s Club, creating some of the most fun and memorable times for everyone involved.

In 1975, Larry and Teri married. They made their home in Woodland, Washington, before eventually moving to Battle Ground, Washington, where they raised their children, Nicole and Larry. This past March, Larry and Teri joyfully celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary — a true testament to their deep love and lasting partnership. Farewell to Larry — the last to leave the party!

A service will be held on June 2, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Battle Ground Community Center.
