In loving memory of Richard Gilfoy: 1933-2022

Posted

Richard Harry Gilfoy was born on May 21, 1933, in Glendale, California, and died Oct. 8, 2022, in Battle Ground, Washington, at the age of 89.

Dick spent his youth in Sunland, California, then joined the Navy in 1952 and served for four years. During that time, he met his future wife Sally, and they were married in 1955. They were blessed with three children.

His career was as a land surveyor. In 1983, he and Sally moved to Battle Ground and enjoyed the early retirement years traveling in their RV. He was employed by the U.S Forest Service for a time at Mt. St. Helens, a job he enjoyed because it involved working outside. His main interests during his life were anything that involved the outdoors and the family. He loved the Lord and was an active member and former deacon at Battle Ground Baptist Church.

Dick is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sally Gilfoy; daughters, Denise Harchuck (Mike) and Kerry Gauthier (Chris); son, Andrew Gilfoy (Karin); 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Maryane Cooksey; and his brother, Tom Gilfoy. He is greatly missed by all.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 29 at Battle Ground Baptist Church.
