Jaime Herrera Beutler, Marie Gluesenkemp Perez ahead in congressional race; Kent in third

As of the most recent tally, results from Washington’s 3rd Congressional District primary race show incumbent Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, and Democratic candidate Marie Gluesenkemp Perez, of Washougal, as the lead vote getters.

Early Tuesday night, Gluesenkemp Perez had earned 31.77% of the vote, with Herrera Beutler getting 24.48%.

Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, was first elected in 2010 

In third, Republican Joe Kent has so far earned 20.11%. Kent was endorsed by former president Donald Trump.



Other Republicans in the race included Heidi St. John, who has so far earned 15.08% of the vote, Vicki Kraft, with 3.21% and Leslie L. French, with 0.55%.

The only other Democratic candidate in the jungle primary, was Davy Ray, of Stevenson, who earned just 2.67% of the vote.

Other third party candidates included Independent Chris Byrd, who earned 1.88% of the vote and Solidarity Party candidate Oliver Black, who garnered 0.17% of votes.

County certification of the election will take place on Aug. 16, with statewide certifications taking place on Aug. 19.
