Judith Wyatt, a U.S. Air Force veteran and member of American Legion Post 44 in Ridgefield, was recently honored as the Legionaire of the year.

Commander Darren Wertz presented Wyatt with the recognition certificate. She was chosen for her care and commitment to the post and the community, stated a news release.

Wertz highlighted Wyatt’s willingness to help, her talent and her dedication.

Wyatt volunteers at a booth for Ridgefield First Saturdays events, is the American Legion representative at conference, is part of the Honor Guard, puts out flags in Ridgefield, and sends out cards for birthdays and other special occasions.

Wyatt was recently instrumental in organizing a birthday party for a 103-year-old veteran.

“She is known as our ‘sunshine’ member and is well deserving of this award,” the release stated.
