Letter to the editor: A democracy is controlled by the best organized majority

Posted

There has been a lot written and said about democracy.

The United States of America was founded on the Constitution as a Republic. A Republic is governed by a set of principles and then majority vote. The set of principles were and have been — and are — the Bible, the 10 Commandments and Jesus Christ, which has made the United States a Christian nation and therefore the blessing and freedoms we’ve enjoyed for so long.

To the contrary, a democracy is controlled by the best organized majority.

When voted and our actions, let’s consider the end results and consequences. The proven facts are out there on many issues but two big issues are the proposing of removing four dams on the Snake River to help salmon and electric battery vehicles, which is a proven disaster.

This year, 2022, has been one of the largest salmon runs since 1937 and the Snake River dams have not done one thing to harm the runs. Look at proven facts. Proposing the use of tax dollars, $30 billion, what a disaster and the loss will be greater than that in loss of jobs, resources and more.
