Letter to the editor: Can society, our country survive if we allow politics as usual?

Posted

Loyal American citizens stand with their nation, their Constitution, their flag and legitimate, local law enforcement.

They understand that without economic freedom, there is no real, personal freedom, whether with their own family finances, or with the country’s economic strength, upon which our national security depends.

Next month’s midterm elections are far more significant than routine media and pollster’s scorekeeping, and far more important than red, white and blue bunting and partisan chants of “hooray for our party.”

Our nation and our communities have watched two years of cascading failures in local, state and federal policies that have resulted in skyrocketing grocery and gas prices, inflation that hurts everybody, surrender to foreign oil producers after recently enjoying energy independence, a dangerous crippling of farming and transportation, startling unavailability of products and services, and increases in taxation, regulations and fees on just about everyone and everything, while a few favored groups receive wasteful government giveaways.

Our border has become an open invitation to cartels, child sex traffickers, gangs, deadly drugs, known rapists and murderers, foreign terrorists already on the Department of Homeland Security watchlists, and floods of illegals who have no reason to honor American laws.

Along with this, we have seen violent crime and property crimes rise everywhere, while elected representatives go easy on criminals, easing bail and prison sentences, actually legalizing some crimes, handcuffing and punishing law enforcement, and even letting murderers out of jail to murder again.

Further threatening our future, student’s math and reading scores continue to plummet under educrats who prize bizarre political advocacy and indoctrination over academic mastery.

Yes, we’ve received voters pamphlets and piles of colorful ads in our mailboxes, just like always, but I have to ask my fellow citizens:

What happens if we are not very careful and deliberate this time? What happens if we haven’t learned from what’s been happening to us? Can our society and our country survive if we allow politics as usual?

I urge voters to research carefully, choose proven, America First, Constitution-minded candidates who will serve us and not bow to bloated, power-grabbing, big-spending government.

We could just blindly go with the party and politicians we always have, as America crumbles but really, what kind of “loyalty” is that?
