Following a recent charter amendment that changed the county councilor position from partisan to nonpartisan, it is imperative that voters are informed and vote for a candidate that aligns with their beliefs and value system. Specifically, for county councilor district five, Don Benton is the only conservative candidate on the ticket and vows to never vote for a tax increase.
Don feels strongly that everyone else is expected to stay within budget and the government should not be excluded from that basic responsibility. His opponent is a long time registered Democrat and activist who resided in Oregon until 2015. Sue Marshall worked for 40-plus years on social justice issues and served as administrator for the Oregon Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee before forming a consulting firm representing several environmental organizations.
