Letter to the editor: I was sympathetic to the school levy, until I learned …

Posted

In response to your “Battle Ground students plead to preserve programs” article, I really feel terrible for the kids.
I have worked for over 30 years as a registered nurse and, in my career, I have known probably three administrators who were practice-competent in the area that they were managing. Most were barely competent nurses who were moved to non-nursing roles. Others had degrees that had nothing to do with health care.

I feel that most hands-on nurses have a similar stress environment as teachers. Many staff nurses carried a serious disapproval for the management team. Teacher administrators are probably not that much different than any other administrator.

I was very sympathetic to this new levy, until I found out that the new multi-million-dollar building currently under construction is being built for the administrative staff.

As usual, this is yet another bloated government waste of money that could have been used for teachers and our kids.
