Letter to the editor: People have the right to choose what they inject into their bodies

Recently, on Jan. 13, the Supreme Court of the United States issued its decision about the ability of the federal government to mandate vaccinations for approximately 84 million Americans (National Federation of Independent Business versus Occupational Safety and Health Administration). The decision was to not allow the federal government to do this. This effort to force people’s compliance was deemed unlawful and that OSHA exceeded its authority to demand it.

Gov. Jay Inslee placed similar mandates into play in Washington state. He did this knowing the vaccination mandate lawsuit trying to stop this action was winding its way through the federal court system. He did not wait to find out if his actions were going to be upheld by the courts. He put it in place and enforced it with the ultimate punishment being loss of your job and livelihood.

The Supreme Court decision makes it clear that his actions are not lawful and that he has exceeded his authority to implement them.

This decision upholds our freedom of choice, and our right to decide, as individuals, what course our medical care and treatment takes. It also is a clear message to Inslee that he must reverse his vaccination mandate.

Not only must Inslee reverse his vaccination mandate, he must rehire state employees that he has caused to be fired, and compensate them for any and all losses that they have incurred because of their dismissal. I am not “heartless” nor am I “biologically ignorant” as Inslee has previously called people that do not agree with his abuse of governmental power to demand vaccinations.

Finally, people have the right to choose what they have injected into their bodies and that right needs to be respected by everyone. Inslee has taken away that right. His responsibility is to restore it and to make whole anyone who was damaged by his unlawful mandate.
