Letter to the editor: Response to ‘It’s her body, her right, her choice’

The unborn child has the right to be born as affirmed by the Supreme Court in 2018. The unborn child is a unique and genetically unrepeatable human being. Dr. Keith Moore writes in “The Developing Human: Clinically Oriented Embryology, 7th Edition,” “human development begins at fertilization. The highly specialized totipotent cell marked the beginning of each of us as a unique individual.” The preborn child growing inside the woman is not her body. The woman has every right to control her body. She does not have the right to kill someone else’s body. Mr. Samuels claims laws restricting abortion are “controlling women’s medical rights and privacy.” There is no medical right of either a man or a woman that permits that man or woman to kill another person. We all have a right to privacy. Privacy does not grant a person authority to kill another person. No where in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence is there anything that even remotely permits the killing of an unborn child. Period.
