Lions Club members help Washington State School for the Blind during track and field day

Members of the Ridgefield, Vancouver and Fort Vancouver Lions Clubs pitched in to help the Washington State School for the Blind at its annual track and field day on Thursday, May 18.

The event attracted around 250 participants from across the Pacific Northwest.



Athletes participated in sprint and long-distance jumping, as well as events like the long jump, high jump, modified javelin and shot put.

Information tables at the event were staffed by the Clark County Council for the Blind, the National Federation for the Blind, Clark College Peer Mentor and Disability Support Services, Lighthouse for The Blind and other groups. A K-9 officer and handler from the Vancouver Police Department also attended.
